Both UV Arc lamps mounted on sides of the inkjet carriage in a HP Colorspan 72UVX inkjet printer were removed and replaced by Summit UV with the Black Diamond Model BD365-4/3-2 UV LED curing units. Inks used were the same broad spectrum UV-curable, CMYK pigmented ink set as provided by HP Colorspan. Substrates used included Coroplast, Gatorplast, stryrene, vinyl, polycarbonate and DiBond. Print image used included 100% and variations of each CMYK process color including process black. Print process was simply turn-on UV LED curing units and load print image with instantaneous start-up.
Results: Prints were UV LED cured at maximum speeds in 600x600dpi production quality print mode of 18.6 sqm/hr (200 sqft/hr). Prints were also UV LED cured at slowest speeds in high quality print mode with no warping of heat-sensitive Coroplast or thin styrene substrates. Again inks used in this evaluation were standard off-the-shelve broad spectrum UV-curable type as supplied by this Inkjet OEM.
Update: Prints produced using two other CMYK ink sets as supplied by separate ink manufacturers were UV LED cured at top speeds for this HP Colorspan inkjet printer in billboard quality print mode of 37.2 sqm/hr (400 sqft/hr). Note there was no post-cure necessary to achieve these passing results.

Both UV Arc lamps mounted on sides of the inkjet carriage in a Dilli NeoTitan UVT-1606 inkjet printer were removed and replaced by an independent third-party value-add reseller with the Summit UV Black Diamond Model BD365-4/3-2 UV LED curing units. Inks used were the same broad spectrum UV-curable, CMYKcm pigmented ink set as provided by Dilli Precision. Substrates used included Coroplast, stryrene and vinyl. Print image used included 100% and variations of each CMYK process color including process black. Print process was simply turn-on UV LED curing units and load print image with instantaneous start-up.
Results: "All print modes had the ink curing properly," as stated by the owner of this company. "We printed on thin styrene at 720x720dpi and 720x1440dpi with a printhead speed of 7 without any curing issues. We printed Uni and Bi-directional (i.e. up to 160 sqft/hr) and cured ink acceptably in both modes. The cure was also acceptable at 720x360dpi Bi-directional print mode although slightly stick, but within one hour it had completed post-cure so that it was not sticky." Again inks used in this evaluation were standard off-the-shelve broad spectrum UV-curable type as supplied by this Inkjet OEM.
